Billy Ryals, owner and operator of Ground Zero Equipment has developed a positive working relationship with Vermeer Texas-Louisiana, which has helped his small business get off the ground successfully.
Ground Zero Equipment is a land clearing and tree care company that has been in business since 2015 in the Houston area. Ryal’s has a 20-year professional background in mechanical engineering. Because of this background he has always been very critical and logical in determining the best tool to complete whatever task he’s faced with. When he started his company, he procured Kubota machines; however, when he learned that Yanmar equipment was manufactured in the same country as Kubota, he started doing more research to secure equipment that was solid with good integrity. In 2017, Vermeer Cypress sales representative, David Moore, reached out to set up a demo with Ryals. During the demo meeting, Ryals found the Yanmar equipment operated well, had exceptional power and relentless durability.
“From that point, I started dealing with David. It wasn’t just the price and the product. It was the service. The easiest thing to do is sell, but having good service is a dealmaker for keeping the customer,” Ryals commented.
Moore’s service background helped him win Ground Zero’s business. Ryals explained, “Not only has he been a good salesman, but he has also offered help with service issues and pointed me in the right direction to solve problems. He’s even helped me troubleshoot.”
Today, Ryals has eight Yanmar excavators in his fleet. He is still growing Ground Zero Equipment but having a diverse line-up of machines helps him secure jobs and makes him able to complete projects more efficiently.
“Any money I make, it goes right back in the business. My kids help me load and unload, but David (Moore) has also been an asset to me. He takes initiative with integrity to solve any issues I might have,” Ryals said.
Ryals has also benefited from having a factory warranty. When he had issues with the mechanics of his drive pump, Moore worked with the Vermeer Cypress service team to get the work completed. Additionally, Moore has helped Ryals when a machine needs maintenance. “He’s (Moore) showed up on the jobsite and helped address technical issues that have reduced my downtime,” Ryals explained.
He may have started at ground zero, but with reliable equipment and professional service from his local Vermeer dealership, the sky’s the limit for Ryals. Learn more about Ground Zero Equipment on Facebook, @GroundZeroMulchingandConstructionEquipmentRental
